Is Fear Keeping You From Fulfilling Relationships?
We crave intimacy, connection, and a feeling of belonging, yet many of us build walls in our relationships due to fear of rejection, abandonment, and being “hurt”. We isolate ourselves, start conflict/fights, or act aloof as a coping mechanism to protect ourselves. How do we begin to take down these walls so that we can create the intimate, connected relationships we desire? Watch this video to find out how!
Do the following:
- Watch the video
- Write how you build walls and in what relationships (isolate, cause conflict, act aloof, etc)
- Now write the thought or belief that causes you to have fear and build these walls( example “I will be rejected if I let people get close to me”. Then write an opposite belief. Work with both.
- Catch yourself in the act- when you are isolating, acting aloof, causing conflict, etc. Then act- tell the other person, make a connection with someone, etc.
Remember that building walls has been a coping mechanism to keep you safe, so it may take some time, patience, and gentleness to start to take these walls down. Are “It’s Too Hard” Thoughts Holding You Back?!
Do you ever find yourself thinking or saying “it’s too hard” or “it is going to be so hard to do ________? In this week’s video I will talk about how our mind creates stress and sabotages us from taking action in our life by telling us “it’s going to be hard” and how to move through it!
Do the following:
- Watch the video
- Write down 1 action you are not taking/doing because you are telling yourself it is too hard
- Now re-write that thought as positive/opposite (It will be easy to ______, it won’t be as hard as I think to do ________)
- Lastly, set a deadline by when you are going to do _______, and tell someone else (coach, friend, etc). Keep repeating the positive thought about it as you are getting ready to do it.
The truth is it probably won’t be as hard as you think it will be and you will feel so good about it even if it was a little hard. Plus it will likely free a lot of stress and overwhelm that comes with procrastination. Go on…You can do it!!!
